SCON Auditions

The Southern California Opera Network (SCON) will be holding auditions Saturday, January 13, 2018 between 10:00am and 5:00pm at Kolping House 1225 S. Union Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90015.

IIf you did not participate in the August 2017 auditions, we would love to have you join us in January. Limited audition slots will be filled on a first come first serve basis. The panel includes music directors and producers from local and regional opera companies and orchestras throughout Southern California.


APPOINTMENT: To make sure no one has a long wait, we book six people in half-hour blocks and ask that you sign in on arrival. You will be heard in order of sign-in. Please let us know at the earliest possible time if for any reason you need to change your appointment. There is typically a wait list and we will make every effort to hear as many singers as possible. To reserve an audition time, send the following information to

a.       CHORUS:

Choose this level if you are new to opera, have sung opera choruses before but are not interested in roles, or if you are looking for stage experience with companies that may lead to other roles.


Choose this level if you have either sung comprimario roles before or have experience singing opera choruses and would like to be considered for comprimario roles.


Choose this level if you have either sung principal roles before or have experience singing comprimario roles and would like to be considered for principal roles

PANEL: The following musical organizations companies have participated in past auditions: Black Tie Opera, California Philharmonic Chorale, Celestial Opera, Center Stage Opera, From The Conductor's Perspective, Golden State Pops Orchestra Chorale, Independent Opera Company, Long Beach Opera, Lyric Opera of Los Angeles, Palisades Symphony, Redlands Opera Theatre, Repertory Opera Company, Spacious Vision Song Project and Vineyard Touring Opera.

REPERTOIRE: Unlike typical auditions calls, here you will be heard by representatives of a number of companies, each with its own season of performances. Please consult with your teacher or coach to select a piece that shows what you do best. No complete Recit, Aria and Cabalettas. LIMIT your selection to 5 minutes MAX.

MATERIALS: Please bring 12 copies of your resume, with photo printed on the document or attached. Any unused copies will be returned to you.

  • All materials must be stapled. Ideally, a resume is one page, but may be printed on both sides.
  • Roles prepared/performed should be listed separately from choral or ensemble performances.
  • Please list any spoken theater training and experience, especially if you have done classic theater.
